Frequently asked questions
We answer the most common questions about pet insurance.
How much cover do I need?
How much cover do I need?
We believe all pets are healthier when they have insurance. But you need to pick the right plan for you, your pet and your circumstances.
When you choose a plan, consider how much you’d be able to pay yourself if your cat or dog needed expensive treatment like surgery. Our Complete Care plan has up to £20,000 annual vet fee limit. It's high enough to cover many expensive surgeries and chronic conditions. But we have other options with lower levels of cover, too.
Oh, and be sure to read into things like our Standard Care Pre-Existing plan, covering conditions where your pet's had no signs or symptoms, treatment, medication or advice for just three months.
We also have a range of different cat insurance and dog insurance plans at various price points that protect your furry family member.
Does pet insurance cover tooth removal?
Does pet insurance cover tooth removal?
If your pet insurance only covers dental treatment for accidents, having your dog or cat’s teeth removed will only be covered if the treatment’s needed because of an accident.
For example, if your cat broke a tooth in a fall from the roof and it needed to be removed as a result.
If you’re covered for accident and illness, dog and cat tooth removals should be covered as any other illness in your policy would be, as long as you’ve kept up with regular preventative care and veterinary dental appointments.
Sometimes your pet's deciduous teeth (baby teeth) don't naturally fall out as they should and your vet might recommend that they're removed as a preventative measure against plaque build-up and other problems.
But having them removed won’t be covered by your pet insurance unless they’ve caused an illness.
Will I be covered immediately?
Will I be covered immediately?
No, unless you’ve switched to us from another provider. Like most pet insurance plans there’s a ‘waiting period’ at the start. That means there’s a short period of time before you can make a claim.
For all our plans the waiting period is two weeks for illnesses and 48 hours for accidents. But if you previously had cover with another pet insurance provider and you were insured with them for 12 months or more and you switch to us with no break in cover, there’s no waiting period and you’ll have immediate cover.
What is covered by a multi-pet plan?
What is covered by a multi-pet plan?
A multi-pet plan covers the same things as a normal pet insurance plan. The main part of the plan is cover for vet fees to treat your pet for an accident or illness. All our plans also give unlimited 24/7 video vet calls, at no extra cost. Pet insurance won’t cover things like routine procedures, vaccinations or grooming.
