Attenborough Nature Reserve

TOP DOG-FRIENDLY THINGS TO DO • NOTTINGHAM

This 550-acre, dog-friendly nature reserve can be found just five miles south of Nottingham city centre. And yes, it was opened by the beloved British naturalist himself in 1966.

If you're a fan of bird-watching, you'll be in your element - there are over 250 to spot here, with it being regarded as one of the top places in the UK to catch sight of the colourful kingfisher. If you're lucky, you'll also see an otter or two paddling in the stunning waters.

Just remember to keep your canine companion on a short leash, and are kept nice and calm around the wildlife. Well-behaved dogs are also welcomed at their visitor centre if you're in the mood to learn a little more about the wider eco-system.

BEST BITS
  • Beautiful, scenic walks
  • Paradise for wildlife lovers
  • Great for picnics
