Whether you’re sightseeing in the city, or exploring Yorkshire’s beautiful countryside with your dog, you’ll always want to pop in at a dog-friendly pub or two (or three, or four). 1. Eagle & Child

Built in 1640, entering this Grade II listed pub feels like stepping back in time. It’s spread over three floors, with the top floor being a famous 60s hangout of the Rolling Stones. Look out for their lipstick signatures on the wall! For a bite to eat, they also have a fresh seasonal menu to tempt you. Customers love their Sunday roasts and their regular mid-week offers on G&Ts and wine. Oh, and it goes without saying that dogs are very welcome.

2. Brew York

For craft beer fans, Brew York is a must-visit. This is actually a brewery with a popular on-site Taproom where you can enjoy a wide range of unique York craft beers right next to the tanks they were brewed in. You can also book a full brewery tour with tastings if you want to see the processes behind the beer. For food, they offer a tasty Asian-inspired menu from Yuzu Street Food and dogs are provided with water bowls and treats.

3. The Royal Oak

This traditional 17th century pub in the centre of York is the perfect place to stop off with your pup after a day of sightseeing. Water bowls and treats will be provided for them, while you treat yourself to a tipple from their range of real ales, beers, wines and spirits. They also have a classic pub grub menu for a longer stay and secluded bookable areas for larger parties where dogs can relax.

Not only do they have a mouth-watering menu of homemade pub classics, they’ve also created a 4km circular sightseeing walking route along the River Ouse to help you work up an appetite.
