Summary

Go Skippy is an insurance broker offering insurance policies for cars, bikes, vans and homes. They also offer travel insurance and business insurance — both of which can be added to an already existing Go Skippy policy.

Go Skippy states that they are a “fresh insurance broker set up to bring you first-class insurance at the most competitive prices we can find.” The brand focuses on affordable online cover and promises to provide cheap quotes from its range of market-leading insurers, including Aviva, Sabre and XS Direct.

Overview of Go Skippy car insurance cover

Go Skippy provides three levels of cover for its car insurance: fully comprehensive; third party, fire and theft; and third party only. Go Skippy’s policies are as follows.

Third party only insurance

Go Skippy’s Third Party Only Insurance is the cheapest level of car insurance that Go Skippy offers. It complies with the legal requirements of the Road Traffic Act. Essentially, this insurance option means that you’re covered for legal liability to other people, which includes damage to their vehicle or compensation for any injuries caused that were your fault — but there will be no cover for damage to your car from any cause whatsoever.

Third party, fire, and theft insurance

Third party, fire and theft car insurance (TPFT) offers slightly more than the legal minimum level of cover that is required.

This type of insurance won’t cover your own vehicle should it be damaged in an accident but, it would cover the cost for any damage to another person’s property — such as their car or if you knocked over their fence or wall — or any injuries they sustained as a direct result of your actions.

If your car is damaged due to fire or damage arising out of the theft or attempted theft of your car, you’ll be covered.

In the event of an accident that was your fault, you won’t be covered for any damage that your car sustains.

Fully comprehensive

Fully comprehensive cover is the highest level of car insurance cover that Go Skippy offers. With fully comprehensive, you’ll be covered against all of what is provided for TPFT.

You’ll be covered for accidental damage to your car in the event of an accident — whether it results in a fault or non-fault claim. You’ll also be covered for any vandalism damage, theft and fire, as well as your vehicle being protected even when it’s unattended.

With Go Skippy’s fully comprehensive cover you’ll also have the added protection and peace of mind that you won’t have to pay out for any unexpected expenses such as car repairs.

Optional extras

Go Skippy makes it easy for you to upgrade your car insurance with a range of add ons. This includes:

  • — Up to £100,000 for a panel of solicitors to assist you as well as a 24-hour legal advice helpline.

  • — For £33.99 per annum you will be provided with a replacement vehicle for up to 14 days if your car is undrivable or written off.

  • — Receive RAC Roadside & Recovery for £58.99 per annum. RAC Breakdown fixes four out of five vehicles at the roadside within an average of 30 minutes.

  • — If your keys are lost, stolen, damaged, broken or denied access to your car, you’ll be reimbursed the cost of gaining access and/or reimbursement for replacement keys, repair, or replacement of the damaged locks.

However, any no claims discount you have may only be used on a Go Skippy policy if it’s less than two years old.

It’s also worth noting that Go Skippy insurance will not insure any vehicle that’s worth more than £50,000, which again identifies them as a value-for-money insurance provider.

How much does Go Skippy insurance cost?

How much you’ll pay for Go Skippy car insurance will depend on a variety of factors, such as your age, your vehicle, your driving history and your individual insurance needs. Your policy will be cheaper if you’re prepared to pay a higher excess in the event of a claim, but it’s still difficult to make a generalisation about the costs involved.

However, Go Skippy states on their website that their car insurance cover starts from just £175 per year.
