MiPet Cover is a relatively new pet insurer which was established in 2017.
As well as different types and levels of cover, it offers 'WalkawayCover' for puppies and kittens, which covers them for £500 of vet fees for four weeks for free once they've had a health check with a participating vet.
What types of pet insurance does MiPet Cover offer?
MiPet Cover offers pet insurance for cats and dogs and has two main cover options to choose from:
This is a time-limited policy (for 12 months) with a choice of £2,500 or £5,000 cover per condition for vet bills.
It also includes:
£500-£750 for death from accident or illness (max age eight for illness)
£500-£750 for advertising, reward or lost by theft/straying if your pet is lost or stolen
£250-£500 for boarding and kennel fees
£1m for third party liability (dogs only)
£500-£750 holiday cancellation cover and £250-£500 for quarantine costs
These are lifetime policies with a choice of cover levels. The highest has up to £12,000 annual vet fee cover.
Policies also include:
£1,000-£2,000 for death from accident or illness (max age eight for illness)
£750-£2,000 for advertising, £500-£1,000 for reward and £1,000-£2,000 for loss by theft/straying if your pet is lost or stolen
£750-£2,000 for boarding and kennel fees
£1m-£3m for third party liability (dogs only)
£1,000-£2,000 for holiday cancellation cover and £500-£1,500 for quarantine costs
Every policy has a fixed excess of £100-£200 per condition per year. You can also choose to pay a 10% variable (additional) excess per condition per year and this additional excess is compulsory for dogs over the age of six and cats over the age of eight.
New MiPet Cover policies are available to pets between the ages of eight weeks and 15 years, but dogs over the age of eight and cats over the age of 10 are eligible for 365Flex (time-limited) policies.

Be aware there is an Australian pet insurance company called MiPet Insurance – this is a different company, with no association to MiPet Cover.
Does MiPet Cover insurance cover dental treatment?
All MiPet Cover policies include dental treatment as a result of an accident.
Subject to evidence of yearly dental check-ups, where any work recommended is carried out at your own expense, they will also cover dental treatment as a result of illness.
Does MiPet Cover insurance covers pre-existing medical conditions?
MiPet Cover doesn't cover pre-existing conditions. Any illness, injury or symptoms your pet had before the start of the policy will not be covered.
How much does pet insurance from MiPet Cover cost?
The cost of pet insurance is affected by many different factors, such as the type and breed of pet, the pet’s age and medical conditions, and the owner’s postcode.
It also depends on the type and level of cover you choose.
Are discounts available for MiPet Cover pet insurance?
MiPet Cover offers four weeks free cover to customers taking out policies for puppies and kittens aged between eight weeks and one year, called Walkaway Cover.

There aren’t many reviews for it online.
In September 2022 the company had just three reviews on TrustPilot, with 2.8 out of five stars and an 'average' rating.
How to make a claim on MiPet Cover pet Insurance?
Notify your vet surgery of your intention to claim and provide your vet with your MiPet Cover policy number. You have 60 days from the date of the treatment to make the claim.
If your vet is equipped to make electronic claims, you can fill in an electronic claim authorisation form for each condition at the surgery, and they will submit the claim directly to MiPet Cover. Alternatively, download a claim form online.
MiPet Cover says it will be in touch within two working days and claims are usually processed within five working days (on average).
