What should I look out for with pet insurance for older cats?
When it comes to pet insurance for older cats, there’s a few things you need to bear in mind. First of all, premiums for senior cat insurance will be more expensive than for younger cats, and will likely increase every year. This is because they’re at higher risk of developing health issues and needing vet care.
Here are a few more things to check your plan for:
Cover for pre-existing conditions. At ManyPets, we’ll cover a condition if it’s been free from signs, symptoms, treatment, medication or advice for two years before the policy start date.
Our Standard Care Pre-existing plan has £1,500 of cover for conditions that ended three months before your policy start date as part of an overall £7,000 vet fee limit, too.
Cover for cats aged seven or over. We don't have any upper age limits on our cat insurance plans - though you'll need to pay a 20% co-payment towards each claim you make if your cat is seven or over.
Dental cover. We have cover for dental illness and accidents up to the vet fee limit with our Standard Care and Complete Care plans, and Essential Care covers dental accidents up to £1k.
Your cat will need to have had a dental check-up within the last twelve months, and you'll need to have followed any dental treatment recommended by a vet within six months.
