Pedigree, cross breed or mixed breed?

Last updated 2 years ago - 1 min read

When it comes to pedigree, cross breed or mixed breed pets, we define the breed categories as follows:

  • A Pedigree pet is where the parents are the same breed
  • Cross Breed pet is where the parents are two different breeds
  • Mixed Breed pet is made up of three breeds or more

It's important to make sure you select the correct breed category when entering your pet's information, as this can affect your premium.

If you don't know which your pet is, you can find some useful information in this article here.

If you are still unsure as to what your pet's breed is, it might be worth contacting your vet to check what they have listed on their records.

If you can't find your pet's breed on our list when you're getting a quote, we may be able to help - you can find information for what to do next here, or you can contact us by calling 0345 340 4090 or emailing
