Why pick ManyPets cat insurance?

Our cat insurance plans offer up to £20,000 of cover for unexpected accidents or illnesses – but that’s not all we do. Here’s how our cat insurance plans stand out from the rest.

Lost and stolen cover

All our plans offer lost and stolen cover for wandering kitties, with Complete Care having up to £6,000 for advertising and reward costs.

MoneyBack optional extra

MoneyBack gives you 20% of your premium back if you haven't needed to make a claim in your policy year. Available to add to most of our plans.

Pre-existing conditions

All plans cover pre-existing conditions ending more than two years before your plan starts, or choose the Standard Care Pre-existing plan for more recent issues. Read our handbook for the full details.

Behaviour cover

Our Complete Care plan covers vet-referred behaviour treatment as a result of an accident or illness to help your cat land back on their feet.

Dental treatment

Cats are sadly prone to dental problems. But we have cover for dental illness and accidents up to the vet fee limit with Standard Care and Complete Care, when you follow your vet's recommendations (see handbook for details). Plus cover for dental accidents up to £1,000 on Essential Care.

Complementary treatments

We cover vet-recommended complementary treatment like hydrotherapy within your vet fee limit. Our complementary treatment cover ranges from £500 to £3,000 depending on your plan.

Lifetime plans

We know some cats struggle with commitment. But we only do lifetime insurance. It means whatever level of cover you choose, the vet fee limit refreshes each year as long as you renew your plan. It's that easy.

Cat insurance FAQs

All the questions you’ve ever wanted to ask about our cat insurance.

How much does cat insurance cost?

In the UK, the cost of insuring your cat can depend on:

  • Your pet's breed

  • Their age

  • Where you live

  • The plan you choose

The best way to find out exactly how much it’ll cost to insure your cat is to get a quote – it only takes a few moments.

Is pet insurance more expensive for older cats?

Generally, the cost to insure a one or two-year-old cat is much less than the cost of insuring an older cat.

Things do change as your cat gets older. For example, your insurer may also ask you to pay a co-payment once your cat turns seven.

Co-payments are a fixed percentage you pay towards your pet's treatment. We calculate this percentage from your vet bill minus the excess.

With us, you can choose to pay a 10% or 20% co-payment when your pet is under seven to lower your insurance price.

But you must agree to a 20% co-payment when your pet is seven or over at renewal.

Like fixed excesses, co-payments help to make the insurance price more affordable. Learn more about co-payments and excesses on our explainer page.

Many people see the cost of their cat insurance increasing over time, and feel that the insurance company is acting unfairly – but higher costs for older cats reflect the fact that visits to the vet are more likely.

Some owners opt to 'self-insure' by paying a fixed amount into a savings account each month, so that there is a reserve to draw on if their cat gets sick, instead of continuing to pay the insurance premium. The risk is that you may need vet treatment before your savings have built up or the cost of treatment will be higher than what you've saved.

Are cat vaccinations covered?

No, vaccinations aren’t covered by cat insurance because they are classed as routine procedures.

Is death covered?

We have two limits related to death.

All our cat insurance plans excluding Essential Care include Farewell Cover if your pet has to be put to sleep. Standard Care and Standard Care Pre-existing plans provide up to £200, while Complete Care offers up to £500. It's your choice how you use the money. It could be used to cover the cost of putting your cat to sleep and for pet cremation or burial costs.

We have separate limits for paying out the value of your cat if they pass away because of an accident or illness. Essential Care has a limit of up to £500, Standard Care and Standard Care Pre-existing have a limit of up to £1,500 and Complete Care has a limit of up to £6,000.

We have an age limit of nine on our death of your pet cover for pets who pass away due to illness. We can't provide death of your pet cover for pets who pass away due to illness, if they're nine or over.

Please read your handbook for exact details on death of your pet cover and our limits.

Is there an age limit or age restrictions to cat insurance?

We love cats of all ages and therefore have no upper age limit! As long as your cat is over four weeks old, we can provide a plan for you.

What type of cat insurance plan do I need?

If your cat hasn’t shown signs and symptoms or needed medication, advice or treatment for a medical condition within two years of your policy start date, they’ll likely be eligible for any of our plans.

Our Standard Care Pre-existing plan can provide cover for a cat that’s had a more recent health issue without signs, symptoms, medication, treatment or advice for three months before your policy start date.

Does cat insurance cover spaying and neutering?

Cat insurance is designed to cover unpredictable accidents and illnesses, so routine procedures like spaying and neutering aren't included on our cat insurance plans.

Does where you live impact the cost of cat insurance?

The cost of vet and medical treatment varies around the country, which means your home address can affect how much you pay for cat insurance.

Is cat insurance mandatory in the UK?

Cat insurance isn’t compulsory in the UK and you don’t legally have to have it. But it can give you peace of mind that you can pay expensive vet bills and medical treatment costs and get your cat back to health.

Can cats have life insurance?

There are no life insurance plans for cats, although our pet insurance plans can offer a payout if your cat passes away, similar to life insurance.

Will my cat be covered if it’s lost or stolen?

All of our plans have some level of lost or stolen cover.

What do I need to get a cat insurance quote?

Getting a cat insurance quote is easy. All you need to tell us is:

  • Your details and address

  • Your cat’s age

  • Your cat’s breed

  • Your cat’s gender

  • The price you paid for your cat

  • Your cat’s neutered status

Can cat insurance be transferred to a new owner?

We can sometimes transfer cat insurance to a new owner, but it isn't always possible. Please call us if you'd like to transfer ownership.
